TTK: Unto the Breach

Several metal spikes disappeared, and reappeared in an instant, flying toward the three Necromorphs. The needles made contact in multiple places, within their legs, arms and even their necks. However the monsters persisted on, even withstanding the barrage of ballistic weaponry carried by the Gensokyo special operations squad, Shadow Point-1.

Pulling out a fragmentation grenade, Rokiahi yelled, "Frag out!" and threw it at the oncoming horde. The hallway blew apart, reducing a slower Slasher into nothing but fiery gibs. However, the remaining two managed to avoid the blast, and continued on their warpath.

"Cease fire!" Kuroko commanded, as she teleported herself between the remaining beasts. One of them turned to slash Kuroko. She promptly disappeared, and the claw bore into the wall. She used the opportunity to retrieve some of her needles from her leg belt, and tried again. This time, the carefully teleported nails drove itself right through the creature's appendages, and pinned it to the nearby wall, freezing it in completely place. Kuroko retreated to the squad as the final Slasher took a deadly swipe at her.

"Aim for their limbs," Rokiahi advised them. "We need to dismember them!" The squad shifted their fire. In a gory display of flesh and bone, the last monster's arm, and one of its long claws snapped off. In a desperate bid to impale Rokiahi, it lunged towards her with its remaining limbs. She swiftly stepped aside and tripped the monster. It fell on the floor, squirming in rage as the squad continued to pump rounds into it.

Staring at its horribly disfigured body, she had no remorse over its suffering. The Unwritten Law did not stand here. It was an uncontrollable monster incapable of mercy, nothing more, she thought. Pulling out a rather aged looking claymore from Hammerspace, she raised it high and brought it down on the monster's back. The Eyelander cut through its head, and snapped off the last claw, rendering the wretched creature useless.

However, in a shocking motion, the body jerked violently, flailing its legs and tentacles. Rokiahi flinched back in disgust. One of the squad members ran to it raising his combat boots high in the air. "YEARGH!" he screamed as he brought down his boot onto the monster's torso, shattering it like fruit.

As the squad paused, the heard several more footsteps coming down the corridor. "Aw, more contacts?" one of the squad members groaned. "No, wait..." Rokiahi said. Flashlights filled the corridor as they heard someone yell, "Point-Actual, are you there? Point-2 inbound, don't shoot!"

"Friendlies coming in from the left, hold your weapons," Rokiahi ordered. Kuroko heaved a sigh of relief as she saw a troupe of familiar armed men approach them. Several of them limped towards them, arms and legs bandaged, and supporting one another. It looked as though they had fared worse than her squad did.

"Point-2 I want a report now: where did these Necromorphs come from?" Rokiahi questioned Point-2's leader.

"Ma'am," he began. "We engage three hostiles at this ship's engineering block..."

"Three hostiles? Necros?" she asked.

"No, ma'am, we believe it was Hotel Charlie, on the run." He replied.

"So, we have Hotel Charlie releasing undead freaks on us now? Unforgivable bastards..." Rokiahi swore angrily. She didn't expect North High to be this despicable. Point-2 leader interrupted. "Uh, Ma'am, the things came from the ceiling via an aerial insertion pod. Hotel Charlie split when we got hit by the pod." Rokiahi looked up confused. "Only friendly forces are outside..." he said uncomfortably. "Do you think those things are from our own?"

Rokiahi didn't dismiss the possibility. She didn't want to think those things came from her own superiors. But the lone fact that the pods came from outside was overwhelming evidence of this treachery.

"Wait a second," Kuroko interrupted, addressing Point-2 leader. "You said you engaged hostiles before the undead. Can you describe them?"

The leader thought for a while, scratching his helmet. "There was two guys and a girl, one with blue hair I think, right Johnny?" he asked one of his squad members. The guy nodded. "Yeah, that guy caught the grenade I fired at the other guy. Unbelievable! It was right after that bitch greased Pyle and Snowball with some kind of lightning attack..."

Kuroko eyes widened. "Say that again!" she held the injured man named Johnny. He felt her hands trembling with excitement. "Woah, what? Let go!..." Kuroko arms were tightening around his bandage. "Answer the girl, Johnny." Point-2 leader demanded. He faced Kuroko again. "Charlie girl was throwing electricity everywhere! Nearly got me too..."

Kuroko faced Rokiahi. "It's Onee-sama! She's here.." as she began dramatically tearing up. The soldier she was holding struggled to break free as tears started to flow over him. Rokiahi could see the overflowing joy in her. But if Point-2 leader's assessment was right, this meant her sister was part of the enemy forces. But either way, she would try to find her sister, whether Rokiahi would approve or not.

"Comms, do we still have signal with Archangel?" she asked. The radioman looked up and shrugged. "Just static as usual."

Rokiahi thought through this carefully.

"Kuroko, you're with me for P.O.W extraction." Rokiahi declared winking at her. Kuroko's eyes grew even brighter with glee and gratitude. "Ma'am?" Point-2 leader asked, confused about what she said. Kuroko turned to face him. "We're going in alone. I want you to take Point-1 and 2, and rendezvous outside with the chopper. Tell Archangel to keep a bird in the air for emergency extraction. We'll catch up," she affirmed herself. "We clear Captain?"

Point-2 leader nodded. "Alright Point-1 and 2, you're with me, we're pulling out!" he ordered. The squad quickly assembled, the able assisting the wounded members. The Captain pulled a shotgun from his back, and held it out for Rokiahi. "I like to keep this for close quarters, but you'll need it more than I do." She accepted the weapon and inspected it. An iconic Franchi SPAS-12 combat shotgun, loaded with six rounds of buckshot ammo. "Thanks," she said, accepting the weapon.

"Just get her back in one piece, that's all. Point-2 Actual out." He said waving to both of them as the squad left the hallway.

Rokiahi and Kuroko were now alone. The fading sounds of the squad's footsteps came to a stop. Ignoring the bloody mess of Necromorphs, she looked at Kuroko and spoke, "Ready to find your sister, Miss Judgment?"

Kuroko nodded. "Let's go."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Huh -*puff*- … Slow down… damn." Hardy said, panting as he lay one hand on the nearby wall. CHIEF turned to see Hardy with one knee on the floor, slumped on the wall.

"And you told me you were in the military," CHIEF scoffed. "You should be better than this."

"Yeah, for only three months," he replied, having caught his breath. "Besides, I only had basic training… not fight some fully armed goon squad. They nearly got me too…Y-You…" he began to stutter.

CHIEF realized what he was talking about. Earlier on, he jumped in front of him, to protect him from a grenade, knowing well his photon shied would protect both of them. An little explosion shouldn't had shaken him up that badly…

Then he remembered. Hardy was only human and would have faced death while someone like himself would have survived such impacts. He had forgotten how fragile the native inhabitants of this world were. This was probably the first time that he had faced real combat, while CHIEF had already fought all kinds of battles with various people. With the members of Guardians, Vivienne, Little Wing, Emilia.

Emilia……

CHIEF helped Hardy to his feet. "Thanks dude," he responded. "I'm alright now." Hardy picked up his rifle and checked the magazine to find it fully loaded. Hardy looked around to see where they were, only to find his eyes scanning a troubled looking CHIEF. "Dude, you okay?" he asked, as he scanned the walls with his rifle flashlight, looking for signs.

"Missing Misaka already?" he joked. CHIEF remained silent. "Oh, right," he stopped, after judging CHIEF's lack of reaction. They had finally reached a door labelled 'HANGER F-4'.

The hanger doors opened, and a large room with a single aircraft sat in the middle. It's wingspan stretched to almost the entire room. At the front of it was the cockpit, able to support two pilots. Its troop carrier was direct behind from the cockpit, able to carry a squad of combatants. It had a sleek design where the cockpit and troop bay was situated at the front, while the smaller engines were attached to the back, able to rotate like a VTOL.  Its shape truly resembled it name: a Pelican.

"This is it?" CHIEF asked unimpressed. "I've seen all kinds of ships in my time, but this is one pile of scrap."

"It may not look much, but she's sturdy as hell," Hardy said, patting the side of the Pelican. "She carries jeeps, tanks, and a can of whoop ass from point A to B," he declared proudly. "Trust me."

"Alright, whatever you say, you're the expert," CHIEF declared, while yet another tremor rocked the ship. "What do we do now?"

Hardy inspected the ship, and the equipment nearby. Barrels and crates were scattered around. He couldn't help but notice the floor was glossier than before. Rubbing a finger on the floor, he brought it close to his nose, and smelt oil. There was a long pipe with a metal catch at its end sprawled onto the floor. Hardy walked over to it and held it with both arms. "Help me with this," he pleaded, struggling to carry the refuelling line to the Pelican. CHIEF walked over and helped him out. They dragged the heavy equipment to the Pelican and attached the pipe to the starboard side.

Looking at the nearby pump, he pressed several buttons, and a soft churning could be heard. The machine was delivering fuel to the Pelican slowly. Hardy stepped back satisfied with his work.

"Good, now, it's up to Misaka to get reserve power back and - "

Hardy stopped as he saw CHIEF wield his twin blades from his hands.

"HEADS UP!" he yelled running forward.

Hardy spun around to see a huge, hulking figure wearing a olive-green trench coat. Its lifeless eyes stared blankly back into his as it raised both its enormous fists into the air.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Misaka held on to the walls as another tremor shook the ship interior. She knew she had to get to the fusion reactor room like that guy told her to. "What a pain," she said, as she tried to remember the route to the generator. Her progress was halted by the familiar large door. "Alright," she began. "If he could do it, then I can. *ahem*, Cortana, open the door!" she yelled to the door.

No response.

"Okay, please?" she tried.

Nothing.

"Aw come 'on!" she kicked the door furiously. "You need the power and only I can give it to you-"

The door slid open for her. "Huh," she said. "Thanks?" A.I must have a sense of humour, she thought to herself as she entered. The large room with towering machinery laid before her. In the middle of it, she saw the all familiar holotank and the console. In front of it, was the fusion reactor itself.

She had done a lot of things, but charging up a large generator? This could be tricky, even for her.

She took a deep breath, and began to concentrate. As she began charging up static, sparks flew and emitted from her body. Her surroundings slowly became more volatile as the voltage increased. Her hair was raised on end as she charged. She had never charged so much energy for something other than her trump card attack before; the famous Railgun only she could perform with an ordinary coin.

Looking at the engine itself, she could see the main power grid. Careful not to fuse with the fusion cores themselves, she began to divert the electrical flow directly to the grid. All manner of lights and circuits began to flare as it began receiving Misaka's energy almost perfectly. The monitor beside her flared up. Statistics poured down the screen, numbers, algorithms, strings, incomprehensible codes. Nothing Misaka could understand, or even bother to, she kept on going. "Yes, that's better Cortana," she whispered sarcasticly. As she felt weakened by her effort, she suddenly noticed the screen reducing its codes to only one line:

'MAIN_ENERGY_OUTPUT: 87%'

Another line popped out. 'BETTER,_SPARKY?'

'Oh god, even Cortana knew how to call her nicknames,' she thought. Cortana was more annoying than she'd originally thought. As the screen ran to '99%', yet another line came out. '99%_MAIN_POWER_IN_268_SECONDS. NOT_BAD_SPARKY.'

"Ha, ha, we done yet 8-bit comedian?" she croaked. She realized her voice getting weaker.

'100%..... SYSTEM_REBOOT. TIME_LEFT_TO_COMPLETE_POWER_RESTORATION: 00:07:42. GOOD_WORK_SPARKY.'

Misaka stopped discharging electricity from her body. She slumped to the floor on her knees, exhausted from the recharging of the Dawn. As more machinery started to move, the Dawn slowly prepared to come back to life. Misaka looked around and heaved a sigh of relief. 'I'll take a breather here and I'll just get back to-'

"Freeze!" a female voice commanded behind her. Due to her exhausted state, she could only turn her head around, only to stare into a barrel of a gun. A armed woman wearing black military clothing stood over her, pointing her shotgun at her face. "Don't move!"

Misaka couldn't even lift her arm.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hardy dived to his right, narrowly avoiding the two colossal arms that were bearing down on him. A loud 'CLANG' rang out as the beast's hands slammed onto the metal floor. He gulped as he saw the large dent that had resulted from the slam. CHIEF swung his blades down onto the creature's shoulder, only to have them embed themselves into it, creature unfazed. "What the…? He gasped as the creature slowly got up, dragging CHIEF closer.

"That's a Tyrant!" Hardy yelled. "Normal weapons don't work on it!" CHIEF struggled to pull his blades out. "Now then you tell me this?" he yelped. The Tyrant pulled his right fist back, and thrust it forwards quickly. CHIEF had only barely summoned out his shield as the arm made brutal contact with it. He flew a considerable distance, just a few metres away from Hardy. "CHIEF!" he cried as he ran towards him. Kneeling down above him, he saw that his shield had taken most of the impact, but had cracked under the overwhelming blow of the Tyrant.

"I'm fine," he said, getting up on his feet.

"Do you happen to have a rocket launcher in any of your loadouts?" Hardy asked, raising his rifle. CHIEF coughed. "No, why?"

"Because one would be very helpful right now!" he yelled as the Tyrant roared, and started to advance towards them.

"He's coming towards us." Hardy looked up to see the trenched coated figure walking towards them at a sluggish pace. "As always, it's slow." Hardy reaffirmed himself. "Hit it with everything you've got!" Both of them fired their weapons at  the hulking monster, but despite the combined firepower of lead and plasma, it kept walking forward, brushing off the rounds as if it were air. "Don't let it close the distance!" Hardy shouted, running away from the Tyrant. The creature lumbered closer to CHIEF. Stubbornly, he retracted his pistol/shield combo, and pulled out his spear. "Hey, I said don't get too close to it!-" Hardy yelled to him. But CHIEF ran towards the monster and thrust his spear into the floor. Using it like an Olympic pole, he vaulted over the Tyrant and landed on his feet right behind it. Confused, the Tyrant stopped, and turned its rock-like head to face CHIEF.

With one mighty swing, he slashed through the middle part of its torso. The creature flinched at the attack, dropping on one knee. CHIEF spun his spear up, and held it with both arms ready to strike his target once more. "CHIEF watch out!"

The Tyrant swiftly gazed up at him, and with an unexpected movement, grabbed him by his left elbow. In surprise, CHIEF  used his right arm and brought down the spear to its head. The spear made clean contact onto its forehead. With its one free arm, the Tyrant defiantly clutched the spear in pain. Standing up, it held CHIEF with both arms in a deadlock, and threw him across the room. Hardy watched helplessly as CHIEF slammed against the wall with an 'Oomph' and fell on the floor face down. "CHIEF!!!" he yelled, with panic in his voice. He did not respond. But Hardy had no time to focus on CHIEF. The Tyrant held its face in agony, and with both arms, it pulled out the spear from with a sickening jolt. His body collided with a canister, spraying a dark liquid onto the floor. It discarded the weapon, and looked at Hardy with a deathly stare. As it walked towards him, he noticed dark blood tricking from its head wound onto the glossy floor.

He had a brainwave. He remembered the smell of oil on his finger. Pulling out a lighter from his pocket, he flicked it open and faced the advancing Tyrant. Behind the monster, was a pair of seemingly convenient fusion coils, strapped to a maintenance cart. It was now or never. "Eat flames, Trenchy," he taunted. With one smooth flick, the lighter flew from his hands. It spun several times before landing on the floor with a soft 'CLINK'. Within a second, the floor below the Tyrant had burst into flames. The Tyrant shielded its eyes as the fire flashed around it. As Hardy pulled out his M6G Magnum and pointed it at the fusion coils, he waited. The Tyrant took several steps behind in an attempt to avoid the fire.

Wait for it...

Tyrant took a step closer to the cart, flailing its arms around.

Not yet...

It spun around and faced the cart, realizing what was right in front of him.

Hardy squeezed the trigger.

A loud shot rang out, and the magnum-calibre round made contact with the fusion coil. The coil changed from a yellow, to a red glow. The entire cart exploded in the Tyrant's face, covering him in an orange bloom of fire. Hardy fell on his back due to the shockwave. Getting up on his feet, he could only see a smouldering wreck of metal and fire remained of where the Tyrant once stood. Walking away from the grim scene, he focused his attention to his friend. He ran over to CHIEF side.

He flipped him over and shook him violently. "Wake up! Get up, oh God please!" he cried over him. Putting two fingers on CHIEF's neck, he sighed with relief. There was a pulse. He held CHIEF with both arms and raised him by his shoulders. "You're always saving my ass, about time I return the favour-"

He heard a gut wrenching roar. Turning around in livid dread, the pile of metal shifted and a lone familiar, hulking figure burst forth. The Tyrant stood upright, ready for another round. But it had several marked differences. Its coat had ripped open, revealing a mass of muscle and flesh. A single large, overgrown beating heart had protruded from it left chest. It arms were no longer fists, now a pair of large intimidating claws. It was as he feared: the Tyrant had mutated even further. And it looked really pissed.

Hardy wished CHIEF was conscious. And he wished that a certain Asian woman would pop out of the blue to give him a rocket launcher, like the game in which its horrors had now become a reality.

UMBRELLA B.O.Ws.
:icony-u-noplz:
Y U ALWAYS POP OUT FROM NOWHERE?

The tyrant was a good monster to use here. I was tempted to use Nemesis, but all he ever wanted was to stalk Jill Valentine and give her a hug RPG round to the face, so, I decided to use his RE2 counterpart, Mr. X, or T-00. He scared the living hell out of me the first time I played Leon’s Scenario B back in RE2.

I am unable to do some drawing lately, ever since I went for a minor toe operation to cure my ingrown toenail problem. Might as well get this all typed out on bed while I still have a holiday. :)

P.S :icondra2k4:: I hope Nemesis is locked safely in one of the newcomer containment facilities. STARbucks joints would totally be screwed should he find any of them. :iconscaredplz:

Ada is still alive in the RE universe right? Anyway, Wesker unleashing these things? Well, good thing they're not 'enchanced'
Great work as always!
